Help Draft Horse Sanctuary Expand and Build!

United In Light (UIL), Inc., draft sanctuary located in Livingston, Montana is a 501c3 nonprofit Charity that specializes in the rescue and rehabilitation for the elder, abused, neglected draft horse breeds from an untimely death of slaughter. We have been serving the community and draft horses since 2003. Over the last 15 years we have rescued 30 draft horses from slaughter that have resided here at the ranch and have assisted in helping hundreds of younger draft horse breeds find new homes. We are raising funds to expand our endeavors.

The horses rescued by UIL have had very hard lives, pulling, driving or as a result from the Premarin (pregnant mare urine- using primary draft mares) industry. These horses have worked so hard that by the time they are found on the feed lots they are scarred, traumatized, distrustful with permanent injuries and broken spirits. Once they arrive here at UIL, we accommodate to their needs not the other way around by helping them to trust, love and heal through the countless visitors of all ages, classes & senior groups that also come for healing and the amazing experience. We rescue gentle giants from all over the country to become a united herd family.
In order to continue this good work, we need your help! We are fully funded by the public and all Volunteer based. Your donation will make a difference for the current horses as well as allowing us to fulfill our greatest need to expand and to work under a larger capacity to create longevity for United In Light, for generations to come. We were fortunate to recently acquire the adjacent 22 acres due to the generosity of three UIL donors. Now the funds to build and we need your help!
Donation Levels:
Suffolk Punch Level $1- $100
All donors will receive a UIL Commemorative postcard.
Shire Level $101- $250
All donors will receive a UIL Ceramic Ornament.
Belgian Level $251- $1000
All donor names will be placed together on a large stone placed on the
property.
Clydesdale Level $1,001- $10,000
Your name will be placed on a cobblestone in the entrance area.
Percheron Level $10,001 on up
Your name will be placed on the founders wall within the venue for all to see.
How are the Funds being utilized:
The majority of the funds are going toward building a Timber built Carriage house that includes an equine rehab facility, main office, store and kitchen.
Building a Hay barn.
Installing a Septic system.
Brining electricity to land and future buildings.
Fencing the whole property and separate pasture areas.
Putting in a Water Well and equine waterers.
Building a couple of Cabins. Utilizing a combination of Solar and Wind power.
Building a pavilion for The Mane Event fundraiser as well as other venue and visitor opportunities.
$3.000 = Toward purchase of a manure spreader for new pastures.
What this expansion will provide:
*Help us to Create a 100 year Legacy for United In Light. A place that has the capacity to home United In Light for generations to come.
*Provide a venue building that will allow year-round flow of visitors, fundraising events, educational facility, workshops and the ability to bring in other professionals to rent out the space for workshops.
*Provide an Equine Rehab Facility where we would be able to provide isolation and healing care to horses that have been rescued off the feed lots.
*Produce a flow of income that will help to stabilize funds for the sanctuary.
*Provide expanded pasture tout down on hay costs.
*Provide an office space that can handle our growing nonprofit along with growing board members and volunteers which is currently done in our kitchen.
*Provide covered hay and feed sheltered from the Montana weather.
*Accommodate more emergency horse cases when needed.
*Provide a roaming/running area track or pathway around the 22 acres.
*Provide a sanctuary space for those horses that have crossed over as well as to provide trees in honor of those that have placed UIL in their trust.
*Provide a storage barn that will protect all equipment used in taking care of the land, pastures etc.
