Dr. Tom's CRC Clinical Trial

UPDATE 9/29/2017 - With the $40,000 goal achieved funding the START of the clinical trial, we are continuing more fundraisers to fund the continuation of the trial beyond its start. With that in mind, I think a $60,000 goal is realitic near-term so I have increased the goal to that!
UPDATE 9/11/2017: With recent and continuing fundraisers we hit our $40k goal today! BUT this only funds the START of the clinical trial! Please support continuing fundraising efforts to fully fund the Clinical Trial which is a lot more money - patients are dependent on it!
I am fundraising to help start a UCSD CRC clinical trial. It is based upon an experimental therapy that I personally plan to do this fall but which once funded will be open to other CRC patients as well via clinical trial.
It is a trial looking at "High pulse-dosed Erlotinib". A clinical trial just finishing up in pancreatic cancer patients has shown significant clinical activity, even in KRAS-mutant pancreatic cancer patients. It is hypothesized that in CRC as well, it may have clinical activity regardless of KRAS-status. In pre-clinical testing, the therapy works better against CRC than pancreatic cancer!
In the pancreatic cancer clinical trial, the unique dosing schedule (very high doses of the oral EGFR inhibitor -- but only dosed for a few days (i.e. "pulsed") per cycle) produced clinical efficacy with significantly reduced side effects.
I am quite hopeful that this therapy will extend my own life as well as: 1.) Help other CRC patients in the clinical trial 2.) Generate clinical data to support a relatively fast new targeted therapy option for CRC.
On a very personal level I thank you for considering giving money to help fund the start of this clinical trial! I believe strongly in the democratization of BOTH information and therapies - so my goal is for my experimental therapy to be open to ALL CRC patients that meet the clinical trial eligibility requirements! Eventually I hope this experimental therapy can help ALL OF US (if the trial is successful) by identifying a new targeted therapy for CRC, something which is desperately needed!
To Life!
