Dr Tim Annis and family

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sandy Annis, and I am the wife of Dr. Tim Annis of Dawsonville, Georgia. Tim suffered a severe stroke on July 18, 2022. He has been hospitalized for almost 100 days since then. We hope he will soon be admitted to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta for rehabilitation. Even after insurance, the amount of medical bills that our family will be responsible for will be tremendous. We are also working hard to keep the chiropractic practice running, as that is our family income. Your donation will help with funding these needs.
Edit 2/6/2024: Shepherd Center did initially approve Tim and offer him a bed. However, 10 days later they rescinded and he did not get into the program.
The stroke changed our lives in a matter of seconds. We no longer have our husband or father with us daily. The people of this community no longer have their caring chiropractor, who has been helping their families for over 30 years. We all miss him!

Thankfully, there do not seem to be serious cognitive deficits. However, he did lose complete function of his left side. This has led to balance issues as well. He was suffering so badly from nerve pain in his head where the stroke occurred, as well as developing hospital delirium, that he was unable to eat for almost two months. Due to the resulting drastic weight loss, a feeding tube was placed in his stomach. Fortunately, he is now eating well on his own and is no longer requiring tube feedings.

Tim has had intermittent physical therapy while hospitalized and has made some positive improvements. The Shepherd Center will be able to use much more specialized equipment and therapists trained in brain rehabilitation.

Our family has already spent much in fuel costs and fast food traveling back and forth to hospitals. The drive to Shepherd will be one hour each way. We plan to possibly rent a hotel room or airbnb nearby to relieve some travel time and stress. At this time, we do not have an estimate of how long he will need to remain there. Once he comes home, the possibility of further outpatient rehab and home care remains. Therefore, we know that the financial burden will continue.

We wish to continue to provide chiropractic care to our community and keep the practice open. There will continue to be doctors working with us to meet your needs. Our costs of keeping the doors open, however, will not decrease. Some funding will go towards meeting this need so that our family's needs are met, as well as having a practice waiting for Dr. Tim to return to when he is ready.

Our family greatly appreciates your gracious donations during our time of need.

Sincerely,
Sandy, Tim, Daniel, Lauren, Callie, Tessa, Alex and Carson Annis
