Hello everybody!
I hope this message finds you well. As most of you know, last year, I was able to attend the DR SALUD medical mission trip thanks to the support of my family and friends. My experience was so rewarding that I hope to return this year to serve the people of San Francisco de Macoris. Last year, the mission trip saw roughly 1300 patients in underserved suburban and rural mountainous communities. The community particularly struggles with malnutrition, infectious disease (such as Dengue, sexually transmitted infections, and HIV), and a high smoking prevalence. Through partnering with Dominican medical students, the DR SALUD provides wellness and prevention services, as well as much needed medications, public health, and hygiene resources. This trip is meant to be both a service opportunity and an educational experience, as we will have the ability to practice our medical knowledge on patients that are in need of our help.
In order to attend, I will need to fundraise my travel expenses, lodging, and also supplies/medications that will be brought to clinic. Thus, I am reaching out to the Fam Jam for help in raising the $$. I really would appreciate any and all support that you can give.
