Dr Keith Clement Burnt Hills Veterinarian Needs U

There is no length to which Keith Clement won’t go to help his family, his friends and the animals to whom he has dedicated his life’s work.

Keith has been a veterinarian at the Burnt Hills Veterinary Hospital for over 30 years, where he has saved lives and improved quality of life for household pets like dogs, cats, birds and rabbits, and wildlife from snakes to hedgehogs — no animal is excluded from his limitless capacity for caring, his vast medical knowledge and his sense of duty to the animals he treats.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Cornell University’s New York State College of Veterinary Medicine, Keith has reached beyond the scope of his daily rounds at Burnt Hills Veterinary Hospital and into the world of research to further expand treatments for animals in need. He is a groundbreaking researcher in the field of stem cell therapy for animals, increasing treatment options for conditions from arthritis to ligament injuries to non-healing fractures using adult stem cells. Always on the cutting edge of medicine and surgery, Keith also uses platelet-rich plasma and pulse wave therapy to stimulate his patients’ own ability to heal from osteoarthritis, wounds, back pain, shoulder instability and other conditions — there is nothing he won’t do to help the animals in his care.

Keith has contracted an aggressive case of COVID-19, and the man who once stood for hours on end operating on fragile animals now has difficulty standing up. He was admitted to the hospital on an emergency basis on Monday, Feb. 1, and it is unclear when he will be able to go home. Because of the pandemic, his wife Cathy and their two teenage children, Johanna and Nathaniel, cannot even visit him as he convalesces.

While out of work, Keith will not have a regular income. His wife, Cathy, is unable to work because of her own medical conditions, which will require back surgery in the near future. With two students in college, high medical expenses, some of which will not be covered by health insurance, and day-to-day living expenses, bills are adding up and his family has found themselves in dire financial need.

Keith Clement is a proud man, a hard-working man, and one who will go to any length to help his fellow man — and animal. But his family is struggling with daily and long-term expenses, and until he is able to return to the hospital and the operating room, they will continue to struggle.
