The Refugee Crisis
Refugees continue to arrive daily on the shores of the Greek islands of Lesvos, Chios, Kos and make their way to Athens as asylum seekers. Some walk for 20+ plus days carrying all of their belongings/infants through the river Evros from Turkey into the Northen part of Greece and either settle in refugee camps of the area or make their way to the city of Athens.  We have had many families who have arrived at the Omonia Church throughway.

The Agape Project
God established this ministry of blessings us, equipping us, enabling us and finally giving us an amazing portion of love and mercy for the refugees coming out of the Middle East.  Eleni Melirrytou along with the Omonia members have worked these last three years continuously and tirelessly to be able to have a sustainable ministry which can meet many of the refugee families needs.     The Agape Project's ministry has operated out of The Omonia Church of Christ in Athens Greece since October 2015.

The Agape Project embraces, encourages, equips, and educates refugees while in Athens, Greece. What started as a feeding program, serving almost 400 meals and teaching Bible studies with 500 attendees each week, has grown to a refugee community refuge. This community center is housed in the upstairs floor of the Church meeting place and has classrooms for teaching English, a small computer lab, office for non-profit groups that offer legal advice for asylum applicants, clothing, and a small medical clinic to refugees as well as children care.

Building Expansion Project
The Agape project has been renting the upstairs floor for over a year and space is now for sale!  Since this facility is so essential to the Agape Project's ministry at Omonia, Eleni and her husband Alexander  (minister at the Omonia Church of Christ) along with a team of loving supporters of this ministry are in the process of establishing a 501c3, non-profit organization for the sole purpose of fund-raising and purchase of the "upper floor".

God, through His people, has provided almost 3/4 of the cost.  Alex and Eleni are still the negotiating the cost, but as for now, they still need 25,000 euros, plus 15,000 euros for the rate of exchange fluctuation as well as legal fees and taxes.  The 2nd floor will be bought under the name of the Omonia Church's entity and will continue to operate as the refugee community center.

Your Support
Any donation no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated.  We hope you can help financially but if not please send us a blessing and pray for our refugee families who are looking for Gods love among us.  Please continue to carry  The Agape Project ministry alive at the Omonia Church of Christ. If you do not have the ability to donate at this time please join our mailing list here and share the love on your social media channels. Thank you for all of your love/support and please continue to keep us in your prayers as we continue this blessed opportunity of touching people with the love of God among Gods people coming out of the Middle East.
