<div>Remember roller skating? Frustrated that there's only been 3 roller skating movies in the history of cinema? Love coming-of-age films set in the late 1970s?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you answered "yes-amundo" to any of these questions, then this fundraiser is for you!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hi friends. Ugh, someone asking for money, right? Forgive me. But I promise you, it's a story you'll want to exist.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong><em>Okay... what in the actual hell is this?</em></strong>
</div>
<div>I'm raising money to fund a short film (around 12 minutes) that I will direct called <em>The Runt</em>, and here’s the logline:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><em>Like most 12-year-olds in 1979, Janet Bauer lives for Friday nights at the Moonlight Rollerway. This particular Friday is special – it’s the last one before junior high starts. When Janet finds out the 8th grade girls have chosen her to be the 7th grade “runt,” she decides she must skate with a boy to prove her maturity and avoid this fate, which would ruin her life forever.</em>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It's a love letter to Gen X, to my younger self, to the late 1970's, but *especially* to all of you giving me money.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong><em>You’re a director? Since when?</em></strong>
</div>
<div>I've been a working TV writer/producer for 23 years (<em>Modern Family, King of the Hill, Raising Hope</em>), and I’ve been on many sets and observed/shadowed some of the best. I directed the 6-episode websieries I wrote, <em>Everyone’s Crazy But Us</em>, and the lead actress got an Emmy nomination out of it, which, if you’re doing the math, means 100% of my directing work is Emmy nominated. I am very lucky to have an outstanding cinematographer on board, Steve Gainer, who has amassed over 70 TV and film credits (<em>On My Block, Schooled,</em> we worked on the show <em>Awkward</em> together). DO NOT watch his work on the Marshmello music video "Happier" unless you want to sob for 10 straight minutes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong><em>Can I read the script?</em></strong>
</div>
<div>Of course! Just let me know and I’ll send. It's about the freedom and danger of the roller rink, so be warned, there's some cussing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong><em>What are you going to do with this short once it’s finished?</em></strong>
</div>
<div>I plan to enter it into each and every every film festival it's eligible for. I will not be putting it up on YouTube/Vimeo, as I'm planning to use copyrighted music that would be “for festival use only.” And if it wins at a festival, it will be eligible for an Academy Award. I dream big, baby! If they don’t play me off at the Oscars, I’ll thank you all individually.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>THANK YOU for even considering helping me make this happen. It is my heart and soul and I am no longer going to wait patiently for the gatekeepers to do the right thing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>**** The short is DONE but we still need $$ for film festivals and post elements! ****</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Love,
</div>
