DP Meyer NYA Phi Kappa Psi Portrait

Donation protected
Last Fall, after conversations with a range of Phi Psi alumni, Mike Moore '87 and John Pakutka '86 commissioned--and put a down payment on--a portrait of our friend and brother Dan Meyer '87.  We expect it to be finished and installed at our 525 Stewart Avenue chapter house during Reunion 2018 .

We now ask you to consider supporting this project.  It is meant to honor Dan's 30+ years of leadership and service to New York Alpha.

As a student, Dan understood that the bonds of fraternity transcended the undergraduate years.  He reinvigorated the Phi Psi Alumni Association, healing the divisions engendered by the Vietnam War.  In the 1990's, he led a successful fundraising campaign that resulted in a sorely needed renovation and expansion of the chapter house.  In the last decades, Dan committed himself--and many of us--to developing programs that  help the undergraduates develop as human beings and professionals.

Dan's commitment explains why Phi Psi stands today, even as many of the other fraternities of the 1980's are gone (or were closed and re-colonized).   His work continues, and his efforts will surely endure as long as his generous heart beats.  (Recall as well Dan's service to nation, as a turret officer on the USS Iowa, a Gulf War veteran, and an investigator at the Office of the Inspector General at a number of federal agencies over the years.)

"Mel" and "Pak" are grateful for anything given to support this project.  (Dan has no idea we are launching this effort.)  We will suggest to Dan that any excess raised over project costs be used to offset his related and un-reimbursed costs over the years.   (We suspect as well that some of those funds will be used to help pay down the Phi Psi mortgage Dan was nagging many of us about last week.)

Please consider a gift in advance of this June's reunion.  Either way, join us Saturday, June 9th, 2018 for the dedication of the portrait.
