Hello, my name is Roxanne Young. My family and I are starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my son Kyle. He is 31 years old and has always been an adventerous person. He loved camping and rock climbing. He became belay certified so he could rock climb anywhere he wanted to (or where allowed), and would sometimes take his hiking pack and disappear for a week or two.
Despite all the activities he enjoyed, none of them compared to his love for motorcycles and riding them. So much so, Kyle spent the last three years attending school so he could work with motorcycles for the rest of his life. On July 1st, 2015 Kyle headed out to the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona to begin his training. For two years, he worked hard. Shortly after graduating, he was invited to attend BMW's Step Program and was chosen out of very few people. Off to New Jersey for him. From April 2017 to June 2017, Kyle crammed his brain with as much knowledge as he could. Once he completed the Step Program, Kyle came back to Yorkville, Illinois and quickly found a job at Cycle Werks in Barrington, Illinois.
On August 9th, 2017, everything changed. While out on his bike, he got into an accident. Kyle sustained a T9-T10 spinal fracture.
The prospects were grim, for he had lost all function from his belly button down. The surgeons worked as quickly as they could on August 10th and realigned his spine; fusing supports from T7 to L1.
Although the surgeons did a fantastic job, they were unable to restore function to his lower body.
This is where we ask for your help! Unfortunately, Kyle has no health insurance. The cost for surgery, hospital stay, physical therapy, and home preparation (Examples: ramps and lifts) is still unclear at this time.
Our goal may change as time goes on but as bills come in, we will post updates letting everyone know how Kyle is doing and where exactly your donations are going.
