Downed trucker needing financial medical assist

Jimmie & Patti Niemeier are very good friends to me and my husband. Patti is a 2 time breast cancer survivor. Jimmie is a 53 year old over the road truck driver from Springfield, IL. Trucking has been his source of income for 30 years.
Jimmie is a father of 4 grown children and grandfather of 5. He is a wonderful provider to his family and an extremely hard working man. He is always there to help those that need it and now he is the one that needs the help!
On Monday, July 20th, Jimmie went to the doctor for a pre-op visit for an upcoming sinus surgery. He had been having difficulty breathing, but thought it was due to his sinus issues. While at his pre-op appointment, the doctor found his oxygen levels were down to 70% and immediately sent him to the hospital. Tests were run and the findings were not only severe pneumonia, but that he also has fluid around his heart and complications from it. He will have to be on IV antibiotics for another couple of weeks and have to have another echo of his heart in 4 weeks to see if the fluid around his heart is gone. At the time of this request, he continues to remain in the hospital. The magnesium and IV antibiotics are harsh on the veins, so it keeps "blowing" his veins. He needs a "pic line", but the hospital won't approve it because of insurance purposes (see below).
We are praying it gets better in that time. If it isn't, he will still not be released by the cardiologist. Jimmie will not be allowed to work until this is resolved, which means no income.
The big kick in the chins came mid-week when his wife received a call from the health insurance, stating he has no major medical coverage in his plan and they will only pay $500.00 towards his ever-rising medical bills. He and his wife also have rent, car payments, health and car insurance, utilities, etc. to worry about and have no idea how they are going to come up with the funds. He is not eligible for financial assistance due to the income earned as a hard working man.
Any help you could provide will be greatly appreciated.
