Down and out in Palmer, AK.

Hi, my name is Paul, and i live in Palmer, AK with 3 of my 4 sons. They are Colin, Devin, and Ian. I am a single parent, but not by choice. The only wife I've ever had passed away suddenly on June 12th, 2008, after being married for 24 years. She was diagnosed with AML Leukemia, generally found in African/American men, age 60-65 years old. She was just 41.

To make a real life story short, i moved me and my boys from Tennessee to alaska in 2012. 2017 was a rough year for my family. I was employed by Grant Aviation, and It was my dream job. I was planning to stay until i retired. Grant had other plans tho, which did not include me. On May 3rd I was let go.  It took a while to find another job, but i did. Last June i went to work for an air medivac unit down in Juneau. It was not my cup of tea, but i stuck it out anyways until the end of the job. November 7th, Taquan Air down in Ketchican offered me a position in there company. I thot "Great, back to work", im an inhouse, direct employee again. Just what i  was looking for and wanted. Jan 7th i was informed that the aircraft mechanic job i was holding was going away. Down sizing and streamlining the company meant hiring brand new mechanics, straight out of school, with no experience, was cheaper than employees with real life experience. I was sent away by Taquan Jan 15th of this year.  Since that time 2 weeks ago, i have been hand carrying applications and sending out my resume to perspective employers. I have applied for work, anywhere and everywhere that i can possibly think of. Im willing to do anything.  Driving into Anchorage from Palmer last week my truck overheated badly, and caused a heater hose to rupture. I replaced the hose and installed a new thermostat. Unfortunately, while refilling the radiator, i discovered that i have a blown head gasket in the engine. Im to the point financially that i just cant pay the price to have my truck fixed at a shop, and  dont have the means to repair it at home, outside, in the middle of winter.

Because i am unemployed at the moment, doesnt mean that the bills quit coming. My water, light, and gas bills are all behind in payment at $300 each. I dont know where to go, or wat to do, or who to turn to for help, except God. I know that he will take care of us somehow, even if I cant see how from my point of view. Im at the end of my rope trying to figure it all out, and how to make it work again. I appealing to those around my community, and the people who have been a part of my life, and who know me best, the people with the big hearts. If God lays it on your heart to help me thru this moment of darkness, i am eternally grateful. If not, thats ok, i understand. Please put yourself in my shoes for a couple of minutes, and see things thru my eyes. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my plea for help, Paul.
