On Sunday, January 14, Paul Dowdy was out cycling alone when he was hit from behind by a car. The event was a hit-and-run; the driver fled the scene without calling for help.
Paul sustained many serious injuries, including several spinal fractures which required immediate surgery. Paul’s recovery and rehabilitation will not be easy. There is a long, difficult, and painful road ahead for the entire family, but Paul, Allison, Mikayla are strong and resilient. With the love and support of family and friends, and their faith in God, they know Paul will heal.
The Dowdys have touched so many lives with their positivity, kindness, friendship, and love. They need our help, so let’s come together in support of our beloved friends.
Allison shared the immeasurable impact your love and support have already given to their family: “Please know that as Paul and I were laying in a hospital bed together yesterday, it was the first time that he had a chance to scroll through all the Facebook love and texts on his phone and mine that had been sent up to this point...........And he just started to weep.......because it touched his heart so much to know how much he is loved and how many lives he's already impacted. And at that very moment it gave him even more strength and then he looked at me and said, ‘I wanna walk some more around the ICU.’ and I said, ‘OK, let's go!’”
