<div>UPDATE AUGUST 2026: Having now restored floor surfaces to Caponiers 1 and half of 3 for the first time since WW2, in August 2026 we commenced flooring in Caponier 4 by the main door. Your generous  conations paid for the wood planking.

<div>This has allowed the public to access them and give a feel of a Victorian gunroom. The cost of the wood for each floor is approximately £3000 each. Our plan for next year is to tackle the North Entrance Guardroom.

<div>We are a small group of volunteers who look after the amazing Drop Redoubt fort, Grand Shaft staircase and North Entrance tunnel as part of the massive Napoleonic and Victorian defensive works at the Western Heights.
</div>

<div>We receive minimal official funding (just £200 per month) and are completely reliant on contributions from the public for our works.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We undertake renovation and clearance works at the fort, hold Open Weekends, provide tours for the public and school groups, undertake research, and much more. In addition, we are the only group in Dover that works to publicise this forgotten military heritage.
