Doug's Journey

Although I know my dear friend is going to be REALLY REALLY upset and mad at me for doing this BUT, sometimes you got do what’s the best for them.

Doug is probably the hardest working man I know – and why you ask was he the hardest working man I know….BECAUSE over the last 9 months Doug has being working on the hardest battle  against Hodgkins and Non Hodgkins Lymphoma (yes, he has both – because I asked the oncologist the same thing…I never knew you can be diagnosed with both this horrible disease!)

To wrap this up in a nut shell, Doug worked for 25 years for one company, sadly the owner passed away and the company was taken over by a family member and Doug lost his job, a job he gave his heart and soul to.  But Doug took his experience and opened his own business, this is the time when he started to getting sick – but Doug being Doug just kept pushing through it – for almost a year!!  Unfortunately the illness came full circle and Doug was forced to see a doctor (his players that he coached – convinced and begged him to see a doctor, of course he listened to them :)

Since June of 2017 Doug has been undergoing treatment (chemo 5 days a week for 24 hours a day) – 6 rounds – back and forth and in and out of the hospital.  His most recent visit and CAT scans has shown that the lymphoma has spread.  His doctor has a  lot of ammunition to fight this – and Doug is a fighter – he still has a long road ahead of him – and unfortunately because Doug owned his own business this great state of ours has denied him any type of “unemployment” or “short term disability”.  I am currently working to try and get him other assistance but that can take 4-6 months and sadly no guarantee –

In the meantime, I am putting this Go Fund me page together for him…I have been agonizing over if I should do this or not because I know how upset Doug is going to be with me – he has A LOT OF PRIDE – and I mean  A LOT of pride– but right now he needs a little help from his friends to get him through the next few months of his journey and his fight!!    Doug is the most generous, thoughtful and caring person - he truly would give you the shirt of his back and his last penny.

Thank you all for any support for Doug – I may not be around once he gets better because he is going to kill me for this : )  So again I’m thanking you all now –

And to you cancer – you’re heartless BUT you  will NOT WIN this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
