Doug Lee Medical Expenses #cancer

Donation protected
My brother-in-law has been fighting lymphoma for 4 years. On November 11, 2017, one day after his 58th birthday, his body could take no more.

His last words to me were, ‘take care of your sister’, and I promised him again, as I had earlier in the week that I would, we all would.

Doug Lee loved my sister with every fiber of his being. Everyone knew that if they ever spent any time with them. He took care of her always and she always took care of him too. They were truly soulmates.

Ten years ago they finally found a log home in the country where they could grow old together.

Married in 1980 and having their only child the following year, life was good until tragedy struck in 1983 when an accident at work changed this 24 year old father and husband’s life. He fell from a 3-story building, crushed his hip and lay comatose almost 2 months. When he woke, he faced so many challenges of surgery, physical therapy and living with a different body than before. My sister and many others were there with him through it all.

Doug was the most kind, caring and thoughtful person that ever lived. Anyone who met him figured that out quickly. My parents have always loved him dearly as he has always been good to their Elaine and always good to them, always helping them, especially when times got hard as their health failed. He always came by and checked on them, cooked supper, mowed their 3 acres, ran errands, and just visited with them.

This battle with lymphoma took its toll on him but he always remained the same Doug, looking after others.

The medical expenses that have piled up are tremendous and enough to break anyone down and I can’t even imagine how my sister can handle this on her own. I had not realized how much it was until recently and I have been devastated just thinking how this has been so emotionally draining to both Doug and Elaine while dealing with his pain and suffering as the cancer destroyed his body.

I have never done anything like this before but I will do anything for my Doug and Elaine.

Many people have asked what can they do in this time of sorrow. I love flowers, plants, concrete memorials, blankets, wind chimes etc. but my sincere hope is that our many friends and family members will consider donating to this fundraiser to truly make a difference in someone’s life, someone I love dearly, my sister.

My sister won’t get to grow old with the love of her life, won’t get to sit on their porch together rocking and enjoying nature, I don’t want her to have the burden of this huge debt hanging over her head too. The grief is almost too much to bear as it is.

Please consider helping by donating to this fund. No amount is too small .. everything helps. Share this with others who may also consider this worthy effort.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and May God Bless You!
