The Journey Continues

It has been seven years since we began this cancer journey and well over the “five-year” mark of being cancer free. I was certainly not expecting to be writing here on Caringbridge again. But God had different plans.
As some of you know, Doug has been struggling the last several months with various health challenges which the doctors blamed on acid reflux. Doug faithfully followed a strict diet to control the acid reflux in addition to taking very high doses of omeprazole. But he still wasn’t getting better.
Toward the end of December, he began to experience new and troubling symptoms. After many challenges with insurance authorizations (at least we had insurance this time) he had a PET-CT scan last week. Unfortunately, it seems the cancer is back.
Doug is scheduled to have an extremely risky surgery on April 9th. He will have two surgeons and the surgery is expected to take 14 hours with a 7 to 14 day stay in the hospital.
The purpose of the Gofundme account is to cover the following expenses:
* Coinsurance and deductibles
* Travel back and forth to UCLA
* Glenda's hotel and food expense near UCLA
* Lost income for Doug as his speech is dramatically diminished and may be permanently impaired
* Special foods
God performed miracles for us before, we know He can do it again. Please keep us in your prayers.
