Douglas Family Hurricane Relief

On August 29th our home was one of the many impacted by Hurricane Harvey.   At 4am, our street was given a mandatory evacuation order by the fire department.   By that time, several neighbors had to be evacuated by boat.  The opening of the dam to relieve pressue flooded our home with 7" of water.   Fortunately, we had already made the decision to leave earlier that evening, saving my wife, mother,  son and pets.  We had very few clothes and supplies with us when we evacuated.
We had just moved into our dream house 3 months before and had not even finished unpacking before the storm came in.  Many of our belongings were still in moving boxes, which made things worse regarding damage and clean up.  We have lost appliances, furniture and many contents due to this storm, in addition to having to remove drywall and insulation.   Since we were not in a flood plane, we unfortunately, did not have flood insurance to assist us in the recovery.  All money raised will go to building materials and contractors to assist in rebuilding our home and replacing items lost in the flood.  The outpouring of support and love has been amazing.  We are truly blessed to have each and every one of you in our lives.
