Help me get my son back

Hello My Friends:
I come to you asking for your help. As most of you know, my first wife and mother of my first son passed away in February of 2017. Her husband has recently filed suit for joint custody of my son. He wants 50% visitation time as well as the right to put his name on my son's birth certificate (a peculiarity here in Brasil.) This is not something that my son's mother wanted. It is also not something that will help my son in any way. In fact, his life would be greatly complicated with the added name on his birth certificate. All major decisions about my son would have to be made jointly with my ex wife's husband. I also do not trust her husband to have any kind of control over my son's inheritance. He has already earned this lack of trust in his handling of my ex wife's estate.
My son has already lost his mother to cancer, he shouldn’t have to lose his father (me) and younger brothers as well. I have already lost a daughter. Despite the divorce, my ex wife and I were very close. I feel her loss tremendously. All I want is to keep my family together.
Our lawyer (very good) thinks that we will be able to win the lawsuit. My problem is that I do not have any money to pay him. He wants R$14,000 (fourteen thousand reais) up front and another R$14,000 when all done as well as R$300 per month during the process. This is roughly equivalent to US$9000 (nine thousand US dollars). I don't have even 10% of this to spare. I am married with three children, a fourth on the way and a stay at home mom (for the time being, anyway.)
I humbly ask for your contributions to help me with this fight. The situation is urgent as the lawsuit is well underway. Without your help, I will lose my son because I will not be able to respond to the suit. With your help I can fight against this injustice and my son will suffer less.
