About
We can all see homelessness on our streets is growing and the existing services are simply not enough to keep up with the needs of our communities.  We need radical change to make our efforts more effective in their outcomes and more efficient in their costs.  Our team is tired of slow moving bureaucracy and ready to cut out the middlemen to bring our services directly to the streets.

Treating people like people, instead of billable hours. We ditch the “bill-for-Services” model that costs $168 per hour in exchange for unlimited services at roughly $35 per day.   Building a capacity to support 100 people for an entire year at a fraction of the cost of comparable services.

With 50+ years experience providing high quality care to our most vulnerable community members, our team is here as the Disruptors of Mental Health and Homeless Services in Los Angeles.  The existing "bill-for-service" model has lost focus on the people served while draining valuable tax-payer resources and reducing the amount of time actually spent addressing a persons needs.  We're here to change that...

Doing "whatever it takes," our field based team is out on the streets looking to improve the quality of life of our community members, focussed on three main areas:

-Health
Coordinating mental health as well as physical health care and co-occuring illness with a Licensed Psychiatric Technician, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Social Workers, Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioners, and Mental Health Recovery Specialists.

-Home
Housing Coordinators and Retention Specialists navigating and supporting complex housing needs.  Assisting with "document readiness" (ID, Social, Birth Certificate), helping complete subsidized housing applications, searching for units, and successfully maintaining housing long-term.

-Purpose

Intensive Case Management Specialists supporting the search for meaningful roles within the community while contributing to the wellbeing of the neighborhood.  Aiding with employment readiness, job searches, supported opportunities, service navigation, connection to local Wellness Centers and everything in between.

Communities Come First
Providing a continuity of care, we focus on stabilizing individuals, supporting to address: mental and physical health concerns, navigating resources, establishing benefits, legal aid, providing a holistic support network during the critical time of transitioning from homelessness to housing, and developing supports within the community.  With a targeted focus on Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, San Pedro, Watts, and Wilmington in order to maximize our impact.

In our startup year, we plan on providing support to 100 people and hope to continue growing from there while disrupting mental health and homeless services in Los Angeles' for good!

We're Here for All of Us
Disrupting the system one step further, we ditch nonprofit status in favor of Certified B Corporation Status, paying taxes like we should.
B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.  The B Corp community works toward reducing inequality, lower levels or poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose.

Harnessing the power of business for good.  Using profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for our employees, communities, and the environment!

Risks and Challenges
In disrupting Los Angeles' Mental Health and Homeless Services we risk breaking the "bill-for-service" medical model that eats tax-payer dollars, burdens staff with more paperwork than people-work, and simply cannot keep up with the rising rates of homelessness and mental illness we see on our streets.

But breaking that mold and starting an innovation project such as this presents our largest challenge: the availability of funding and the willingness of our existing bureaucracies to try something radically different...

Hoping to gain support from you and the local community in order to fund our services initially while we develop enough proof of concept to transform the delivery of Mental Health and Homeless Services throughout Los Angeles. Treating people like people rather than billable hours.

In the end, we risk failing to meet our expected outcomes of: improved access to mental and physical health services, greater success securing and retaining housing, satisfaction with level of care, reduced staff burnout, and community members empowered to work towards collective solutions.

But our mission is to empower the community to become proactive agents of change, focusing on the multi-faceted issues contributing to mental illness and homelessness; working together to create a path towards recovery of full and meaningful lives.

Addressing the crisis we're witnessing on our streets is simply not possible alone.  Please Join us in disrupting the system and head to our website to learn more.
