Erica’s Emory University Lung Transplant Surgery

I am a patient of Emory University Hospital Lung Transplant Center, and I am working with them to raise funds for my post-transplant needs. There are many costs related to a double lung transplant that are not covered by even the best insurance plans. 

Transplantation can be an overwhelming situation, and patients are encouraged to plan ahead for some of the uncovered and unforeseeable costs. My family and I thank you for your support of my endeavor to manage the costs for my medical needs through fundraising. All funds I raise will be utilized for my post-transplant medical needs. 

FACT: I HAVE TO HAVE MEDICINE AND I HAVE TO LIVE NEAR EMORY FOR 3-6 MONTHS. The cost of immunosuppressive medications, and my housing in Atlanta near Emory for three to six months, will typically range from $15,000 to $20,000. Even with insurance, medicine co-pays, and a savings account lung transplants can be unaffordable.
