Dorset Ave fire victims

Donation protected

On Wednesday September 2nd a fire ravaged a building at 111 N Dorset Ave. This is a tragedy for the owner of the building, but even more so for the tenets.

Mr. Bill Miller, 59, has lived in the second floor apartment for over 20 years. His home for most of his adult life has sustained total fire damage. This is doubly tragic as Mr. Miller should be celebrating finally be able to return to work in the casino hospitality field after months of unemployment due to COVID-19.

Mr. Bruce Berry, 57, has lived in the first floor apartment, with his 83 year old father, for only a few months.   The home he was previously renting was sold in the spring, at the start of the pandemic. Mr. Berry spent months looking for a new home and felt optimistic that this would be a new beginning as he was also renting the office space in hopes of pursuing a new business venture.

Bill and Bruce have seen great support from their friends and community in the last few days. While everyone is safe and in temporary housing, they still have a mountain to climb ahead of them. Any contribution to this fund will be split evenly between both men in hopes that any little bit can help them begin to rebuild their lives.
