Dorian Relief Freedom Team (Abaco ~ Grand Bahama)

Donation protected
My name is Terry Doyle and I’m a Service Manager at Holman Automotive’s dealership Audi Pembroke Pines. I made a personal commitment to help our neighbors in the Bahamas recover from hurricane Dorian. Please help with this grassroots mission to get the right relief supplies, to the right places, at the right time, through a volunteer network of trusted locals and caring souls. Your donation will be withdrawn by me to make purchases for supplies (many listed below) and I will bring them to Bimini Shipping in Miami along with other donated items. They will be stacked on pallets, loaded into containers, and shipped directly to Eulethera, Bahamas for free. From there, Denny Rankine (bio below) and his close-knit team of volunteers will sort the supplies, then load their charter and fishing boats to distribute items where they are needed most - starting with Abaco and Grand Bahama. They will see the items through to the final destination to ensure they get into the right hands. After the storm I called my friend David Solomon who has a home in The Bahamas to offer help. David’s home was 100 miles from the eye of the hurricane and suffered no damage so he gathered key members of the community and local government to put together a plan to help get the supplies people need and cut thru the red tape that sometimes comes with relief agencies. That’s when the Dorian Relief Freedom Team was formed. Among those at the meeting was Denny Rankine. Denny, like David, is another active member of the community as well as a volunteer in many organizations including one that rescues vessels in distress in nearby Atlantic waters. Denny is a member of the National Fisheries Board of The Bahamas, the VP of the Bahamas Flats Fishing Industry Association (BFFIA), the Department of Fisheries Supervisor for the island of Eleuthera and Spanish Wells, and on the Board of Local Government for Savannah Sound. Aside from that, he’s one of the most sought-after bone fishing guides and charter captains. Here’s the plan: We will continue providing a flow of basic necessities while also assisting in cleanup, build & maintain temporary shelters, construct longer-term temporary shelters, water collection & storage, help restore vital businesses, and then build more permanent housing. Our team In Eleuthera includes skilled contractors who are willing to donate their time to help rebuild their fellow Bahamians. All operations are performed in cooperation with the local government but with the freedom from the constraints of large relief agencies. Weekly shipments started September 10th, and will continue as long as donations support. Progress will be posted on this site as well as photos of receipts for all items. I plan to visit Eulethera and the sites where our supplies are being shipped to gain a first-hand understanding of our impact. I promise to be responsible with the funds and seek wholesale prices for the goods. If you have any concerns please message me or call. My first personal donation included several tools and supplies that were left over from Hurricane Wilma when the roof was blown off our house here in Pompano Beach. Below is a list of what’s needed now, but please be sure to check back since this will change over time.
