Dorene Valiquettes Medical Recovery

Donation protected
As some of you may or may not know on November 19th, Dorene Beaudry-Valiquette had a left hemispheric stroke. Dorene has a very long road to recovery in front of her and even with insurance, medical bills, insurance co-pays, travel costs, and lost wages are adding up quickly. Dorene began her career with a bachelor degree in education. Soon she realized taking care of people was her expertise. She worked herself up the ranks beginning as a nurses aide, working and putting herself thru school, getting her license first as an LPN then as an RN. Her career always gravitated towards the elderly. She worked in every aspect of nursing care and always recognized the importance that it took a team to care for people. Dorene is very sensitive to the humanness of who people are. She worked her way up as a floor nurse, supervisor, and then Director of Nursing at Bel-aire Nursing Home. As director, she had 8 years of deficiency free surveys. For those who know the nursing home world, this is quite an accomplishment. She has always been very respected by her staff and peers, she always had an open Door policy and never too busy to put her pen down and listen. She’s always involved problem solving with a team approach. She is always fair and fought for her staff, especially the nurse’s aides, recognizing they are the back bone to any facility. Without them she knew she could not do her job. You would frequently see Dorene working on the floor helping out when short staffed. She was never afraid to get her hands dirty! She always made herself accessible, maybe too much, never thinking about herself. In 2011, Dorene made a decision to come to the Union House Nursing Home. Those of in the nursing world knew her reputation. It certainly was a gain to our facility and the residents we care for. As true as her reputation, she has made and impact at the Union House, bringing with her leadership, knowledge, sensitivity, compassion, and sense of humor, again always putting herself last. She brought us through 4 deficiency free surveys. She has always been dedicated to her craft, chosen career, her patients, and her staff. Her commitment has been contagious. We at the the Union House love her, support her, and will continue to be there for her in any way we can through this next challenge of her life.
