Early morning on Saturday, Feb. 15th, Dora Campbell, 72, was woken up by an intruder breaking into her home. Dora went downstairs into her basement after hearing her granddaughter screaming for her. After a violent conflict, the assailant threw Dora down the stairs and onto the cement floor six times, breaking her hip. He then continued the attack by striking her in the head with a shower rod.

She made the sign of the cross in the Tlicho language, spoken by some Dene people in the Northwest Territories. Then she prayed in English so he could understand.

The man then went upstairs and set her house on fire. Her granddaughter escaped by climbing out the basement window. Dora Campbell also tried to escape by crawling up the stairs, but she didn’t have the strength.

In a moment of clarity and remorse, he ran back inside the house, and he carried Dora away from the burning house.

Dora survived but has required serious surgery to repair her hip. She has seven stitches in her forehead and is still in the hospital. She thanks God she and her granddaughter are alive.

Dora is a very kind soul and is considered the cornerstone of her family by her many children, grandchildren, and extended family. She has lost her home and all personal belongings in the fire. We are asking for your support to help Dora rebuild and overcome the trauma that has been inflicted on her.

Please help us by supporting her with donations to get her housing and essential needs when she is released from hospital care. We wish to raise funds to minimize the financial stress and strain so Dora can rebuild the stability that was unfairly stolen from her.

Thank you.

I Darlene Gauthier, grant my son Jode Gauthier to be the beneficiary who will distribute the funds to Dora Campbell thank you.
