Venture North is a bicycle and coffee shop in North Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was founded in 2011 by Redeemer Center for Life as a gateway for disadvantaged youth. Over the past decade, it has created programs such as the build-a-bike program and the bicycle mechanic internship program.
Because of the pandemic, Venture North closed its doors in January 2020 and struggled due to finances in 2021, which brings me to this point:
My name is Kennis Littleton, and I am a graduate of the Minnesota adult and teen challenge in 2018. I was approached by Redeemer Center for Life to head up the project of reopening Venture North and keep it from being closed for Good. With this being the only "BIPOC" Black-owned brick and mortar bicycle retail store in the African-American community of North Minneapolis. Venture North is a much-needed avenue for this community to pursue the health and joy that bicycling offers.
I am seeking donations to continue the mission and vision of empowering the youth and cyclists of this community to see the joy and health benefits that cycling offers. Join me in the quest to provide quality refurbished bicycles and bicycle parts and services to a community that does not have many other options for its cycling needs. Your donation will go towards operational expenses, employee compensation, equipment updates and the initial cost of goods.
With your help, we can get Venture North back off the ground and up and running for the 2022 bicycle season starting now!
