I am not fond of asking for help, especially publically. However, my medical situation has put me in the position of asking. I am a mother of two beautiful young girls, living in Northeast, Texas. Around 15 years ago my retina in my right eye began to detach. This condition was caused by my severe astigmatism and allergy to direct sunlight.
My doctor informs me that at this point my retina remains only 5% attached, and my eye is 75% scar tissue. Unfortunately, I need to have the eye removed and replaced with a prosthetic. In addition, the condition causes pain most of the time, infections, migraines, and can trigger my seizures. My family and I are not currently in the position to afford the surgical procedure and follow-up treatment. I am between jobs at the moment, and my expenses related to my daughter's health problems come first.
My doctors tell me once my eye shrinks to point of falling out, or more likely ruptures from the internal pressure, they will be able to help regardless of my financial situation. Sadly, they cannot accurately predict when this will be – but between a few weeks or several years. Frankly, that idea terrifies me as much as my current blindness and medical complications.
I would like to move forward with a more solid plan. Waiting until the situation becomes critical from the ocular pressure, presents the awful scenario of running to the hospital without notice for emergency surgery.
If you are willing to help, even just a little bit, me and my family would very grateful. The surgery will greatly improve my life and health.
Thank you for reading.
