My dear friend Don Schwartz has suffered from a rare form of trigeminal neuralgia for 24+ years. He has intense pain in his entire face – forehead to jaw – 24 hours of every day.
It’s a wonder that he can function at all, because the pain continues into his sleep, and it’s the first thing that he feels when he wakes every morning.
Don has seen many doctors including at least six neurologists, and he's also researched non-medical treatments, none of which had the least impact on his pain at all.
So far, the only medical treatment offered has been opioids… which Don can't take because they are more debilitating than the pain.
Don, who is a journalist and life counselor, has never let his pain prevent him from doing anything and everything he can to make a positive change in our world. He'll never retire, but this condition is making his life incredibly hard right now.
As a student of psychology, Don knows that people suffering from chronic pain can fall into traps. So he rejects hopelessness, refuses to fall into despair, and he continues to seek relief from his pain – all while helping others with their lives.
The GOOD NEWS: Don recently heard about a documentary from his friend, “Honest Medicine” author Julia Schopick. The film – “The God Cells” by Eric Merola – covers a clinic called EmCell, which has the most experienced staff in the world and offers a particular stem cell treatment not available anywhere else. Don viewed the film, wrote a powerful review, and discussed the clinic with Eric. Then Don decided to undergo therapy at EmCell himself – but the treatment isn't covered by insurance.
This is a very promising treatment: the first doctors that Don has found who have a strong chance of finally helping him eliminate his chronic pain. And he must travel out of the country and secure lodging while being treated. The total amount of money needed covers the treatment itself, airfare & visas for Don and a caregiver, lodging and food for more than a week, ground travel, flight insurance, GoFundMe fees, lost income for almost two weeks, and unanticipated expenses.
The goal is in sight, but Don’s funds are very low, and he lives on a very small income because he can't work full-time. He has a few friends who can help, but he needs this money to return to a normal life. He needs YOUR help.
