The Donovan Family

Donation protected
Rob and Sue Donovan are an amazing couple, and wonderful parents to their three boys: Jack is almost 17, Rory is 11, and Cooper is 9. I adore this family, as many people do, and Rob and Sue are my real life heroes. They are a close-knit family that always has a positive attitude. They have an incredibly deep faith, and are the first ones to do anything they can to help others in need. Now this well deserving family needs our help.

Rob, 46, has ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and Sue, 44, is struggling with the effects of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). At this point neither Rob nor Sue are able to work, and they are not only struggling with these debilitating diseases, but they are also living day-to-day with little or no financial means. There are huge medical debts, in addition to the every day bills that just keep piling up.

Rob is completely wheelchair bound, and just had surgery to put in a feeding tube. He is no longer able to hold anything in his hands, and is losing his speech abilities. A communication device is becoming increasingly necessary, one with optical capabilities, but given their situation it is impossible to buy one. The government no longer helps families with getting communication devices like this as it is considered medically unnecessary.

Sue's MS only adds to the complexities of their lives. She lives with incapacitating symptoms that include muscle weakness, rigidity in her legs, lethargy, depression, dizziness, and many other symptoms typical of the disease.

It is becoming impossible to take Rob out of the house given the vehicle they own. It is heartbreaking to think that Rob is going to miss many of the very important events in these young boys’ lives just because he is no longer able to be transported. While a van with a wheelchair lift is necessary for this family, even a used one is incredibly expensive.

In addition to a communication device, and a van with wheelchair lift, they need to remodel parts of their home. Rob’s wheelchair cannot access many rooms in the house because the door frames are not large enough.

Jack, Rory, and Cooper are intelligent, kind, athletic, and fun-loving boys. Jack would like to go to Texas for college starting next year. He is very smart and a hard-worker. However, the family has no money to pay for college. Rory and Cooper are too young for college yet, but it will be just around the corner.

Please help me help this family. No matter how large or small a donation, all funds will be used for a van with a wheelchair lift, a communication device for Rob, and remodeling the house for handicap accessibility. Any other money would help in college funds for the boys. I know it is a lot to ask, but if you could find it in your hearts to help this lovely family out, it would be so, very much appreciated. God Bless.
