Donovan's Urgent Relocation

Donovan and Zaikia need your help! Donovan Jennings is a 13 year old living with autism in NWA. If you know someone with autism, you are familiar with the struggles these families endure and daily challenges they face in every aspect of life: participating in social activites, attending public school, appropriate medical treatment in NWA, emotional/behavioral health treatment,  and recreational activities. The regression of Donovan’s behavior secondary to autism along with hormonal surges of puberty has become urgent. Donovan had been receiving out-patient therapy until September when his medical team recommended that he be admitted inpatient to assess and evaluate his current medications. Zaikia contacted all local facilities and was turned away by each one due to his need for dual care – developmental and behavioral.  The facilities in NWA and surrounding areas cannot provide the necessary and appropriate treatment for the dual diagnosis. As of 10/31/17, there is only 1 facility in the state that could admit Don but they have a 3-5+ month wait…
Zaikia is a single parent and Donovan's sole caregiver (since birth).  Their only family support in this area is Donovan's grandmother, who lives on a fixed income and is in remission from cancer. Zaikia has located a facility in Michigan that is able to admit Donovan with his dual diagnosis. They have chosen Michigan because they have a long-time family friend there that has offered housing and support to Zaikia and Donovan during this transition into the next phase of their journey. They will be leaving NWA on Saturday, November 18th.

-iPad cord, universal android cord (for ipad, tablet)
-AA batteries
-Drawing pads

-Crash pillow(s)
**Donovan loves Rio, Secret Life of Pets, Tom and Jerry, 102 Dalmatians,  Scooby Doo**

-Shoes (mens size 12 or 12.5)
-Clothing i.e. shirts, pants (mens sz medium, pants 36x33)      
-Winter clothing i.e. coat, gloves, boots, etc       
-Socks, underwear, undershirts

-Full size mattress/bed with side railing (like on child bed)
-Full-size bedding (for boy)

-Auto safety kit
