Help with Laryngeal Cancer treatment for Donovan Hyman.

Greetings.

My name is Marcia McLean Harriott. I live in London and I am fundraising for Donovan Hyman (A.K.A. Bruk Hand).

Donovan is 45 years old and resides with his brother at Bonitto Heights, Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica West Indies.

He attended the Mandeville All Age School and subsequently attended Holmwood Technical High School for a short period. He worked at Jamalco as a construction worker for 3 years.

His sickness started in 2023. He has been diagnosed with laryngeal cancer and wears a tracheostomy tube, and as a result, he had to leave his job.

Donovan is my mom's neighbour and is a respectable, kind, caring, helpful, humble and upstanding resident of the community. In the past Donovan has done many good deeds for my mom such as fetching water for her, fixing things that are broken in the home and also when my mom was ill he lifted her from the bedroom to the taxi to get her to a hospital.

Donovan has a brother (Dave) gave up his job to care for and supports him. My family also assist Donovan. Donovan is unable to speak and communicates with us via WhatsApp messages. He requires ongoing medical treatment and is required to attend regular appointments at the hospital clinic. He needs financial help with changing his tracheostomy kit at specified times, cleaning and dressing of the affected area, CT scans, chemotherapy, prescriptions, and help with daily provisions, and groceries.

Donovan was given a prescription 2 weeks ago to purchase a new tracheostomy kit, however upon fitting it the doctors stated that he requires one with a longer tube. The current tube is too short and is causing Donovan to have breathing problems. We have tried to source this new prescribed tube in Jamaica, however it is not available. We are now trying to source this from overseas.

Donovan has been admitted in the Mandeville Regional Hospital 3 times in the last 2 weeks because of the breathing issue, and was discharged again on Monday 16 September 2024, however the breathing issue is till ongoing.

Donovan's blood count is very low at the moment and he is very weak. The doctors have recommended juicing and 3 bottles of ensure daily.

He also needs to do a neck and chest CT scan, which costs 90, 000 JMD. He also needs to go into the Kingston Public Hospital in the next 2 weeks for chemotherapy.

It is a challenge for Donovan to sustain his medical bills and daily upkeep without an income, and I am reaching out to ask for help with his medical bills and his daily upkeep.
