Donny's Medical and Future Expenses

In March 2017, Donny Cardwell, 55 years old, a NC resident, went to the hospital emergency room with severe chest pain. After extensive research and tests they discovered a large mass behind his heart. With only $490 a month in disability and just a little for foodstamps, Donny knew he had a tough road ahead. Doctors ordered a biopsy of the mass and discovered it to be non small cell lung cancer (squamous cell carcinoma). Given only six months to a year to live, Donny underwent 8 weeks of grueling radiation treatments. With no progress from treatment the cancer has spread around his esophagus and into his heart valves. Coupled with Copd and only half of a working lung, he suffers through a lot of pain and a heavy heart. Being barely able to survive on the assistance he has along with the side effects of treatment, he has lost a considerable amount of weight, hope, and strength. Donny has been trying to keep his head up and his will to live but recently spoke to me (his sister) and mentioned that in his heart, he doesn't feel like he'll be here with us much longer. His last and dying wish is to be able to see his son (Kyle Cardwell age:20) and Kyle's mother(Kathy) located in Phoenix, AZ. With the expenses of travel from Arizona to North Carolina and what goes along with it, sadly, Donny nor his family can afford to get them here. So I am asking for your help to let Donny have his last wish granted by seeing his son one last time. The funds raised will strictly go to fund this trip (airfare, hotel, food) and whatever funds are left over will go to the unfortunate future costs for what lies ahead. Anyone that knows Donny, knows he is family oriented, strong willed, and loyal to his loved ones. To see and hear him speak like this now is heartbreaking, knowing we aren't able to help him. I pray we are able to make his wish come true before the good Lord calls him home. Thank you for the support and taking the time to read his story. Any amount greatly helps and is much appreciated.
