It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of our friend, Donnie Smith. He passed December 15th, at home, in the loving company of his family. Please keep in your thoughts and prayers his entire family; his wife, Connie Smith; children Kelsey, Jacob, and Austin; Grandson Joseph; and many other family members and friends. As many of you are aware, Donnie Smith has been fighting a brave battle with stage 4 colon cancer for over a year. By the time it was detected, the cancer had spread to multiple organs, thus making his treatment aggressive and exhausting. Recently, Donnie began to have problems stemming from his gallbladder, and it has been determined that the tumors on his liver are compressing the ducts running between his gallbladder and liver, making him very ill. Multiple drains have been placed in the ducts which will remain in place. The doctors encouraged Connie to stay home from work to provide additional care for Donnie.
Both Donnie and Connie have worked for OhioHealth for many years. Donnie has worked in Security at Grant Hospital, East Side Health Center, and the Westerville Medical Campus, which is how Donnie and Connie met. Connie has been an imaging technologist for OhioHealth for many years, most recently at the Westerville Medical Campus.
As you can probably imagine, the chemotherapy treatment, hospital stay, gallbladder procedure, and many imaging exams have put a financial strain on Donnie and Connie. Any donations that they receive will certainly help to alleviate some financial burden, and would be endlessly appreciated.
