Donna’ s Fight for a Cure

To all my family and friends and those out there that can find it in their hearts to help me help an amazing,humble,loving and selfless individual. She has been through the worse that you can imagine in the battle for her life, yet she has been the rock in everyone’s life she still puts others before her. Her spirit and faith give her the strength to keep on fighting. The Doctors have tried everything from surgery to chemo and in desperation she is now undergoing radiation. I will now enclose a few words from Donna to better explain why the fundraising is so important.
My name is Donna-Marie Kotyko and I was asked to explain the medical facts as explained by my oncologist Dr Adrain Langleben.
My doctor is trying to get me to send off tissue of my pancreatic tumor for a biopsy to the USA to run a search for specific types of genetic markers which searches for 400 markers and then provides the treatment protocol. I had a similar test done here in Montreal at the Jewish General Hospital which only tested against 40 markers and I was negative on all 40. The US have so many more clinical trials involving immunotherapy so this test would give me possible access to those protocols if I fit the criteria.
On a personal note I feel extremely humbled and overwhelmingly grateful to everybody who donates and everyone who reads this and just says a prayer for me.
I have been fighting this battle since December 2016. In May 2017 I was given such positive news, “ you have just won a lottery of pancreatic cancer. You are in the small one percent where this cancer will not end your life. They will do surgery they will remove it and you will not even have to do chemotherapy.“. In June 2017 my nightmare began, after going in for surgery I woke up to be given the news that this non fatal tumor was placed in such a way it was deemed inoperable by one of the most aggressive surgeons Dr Peter Metrakos. In the 12 months that followed I tried everything from hormone therapy to chemotherapy to radiation and so far the cancer’s winning.
I still have fight left in me and I thank everybody who’s helping me fund the resources to fight the fight.
