My name is Cindy Daniel! I was taught by a very loving and thoughtful mother that if you have an apple, cut it in half and share it with someone who is in need. Helping your neighbors begins with starting with some special seeds to begin a harvest and then let it grow. My whole life has been based on this concept. I put it in place in my 30-year career as a counselor and advocate for people with disabilities and special needs. Not that people who have disabilities or special needs can’t provide for themselves, they can, I know that better than anyone because I have a disability! It is that everyone should have the quality of life that they choose and deserve.
I contribute my strength and perseverance by the example of my mother who was a very strong advocate for me. She supported me and was by my side through my accidents that caused my disabilities. She demonstrated how I could overcome societal barriers and reach my goals. In the beginning of my career, I started a catering/party events company, where my mom assisted me. This is where we started to plant seeds together! Every time I had an event and made money; I would put some aside with food that I purchased for the event. My mom and I would then make love deliveries to the homeless because, in my mother’s words, we are all God’s Children and we need to support one another. My mother recently passed, and I miss her terribly. There is an emptiness in my heart that I am trying to fill. So, in her memory, I am continuing to plant seeds by continuing my mother's Love Deliveries to people who are in need by using her name, Donna Love Deliveries to give to people who are homeless or in need.
I recently became aware of many hardships in my community where people are lacking even the basics to survive our world in the middle of this coronavirus pandemic. I decided to go out and talk with organizations and people who are homeless to see how I could be of help. At this point I became aware of so many of our homeless are veterans. After meeting with many organizations, churches, and the community, I have commitments from them to help reach out and get these supplies where they are needed. We have developed three types of Donna Love Deliveries for adults, children, and pets! These love delivery bags will be held and disbursed to people in need from the Crisis Ministries of Davidson County in Lexington, NC. These Donna Love Deliveries will not only be distributed in Lexington but will be given out to various organizations all over!
One of the organizations I have reached out to develop a coat that turns into a sleeping bag that can be carried as a backpack! So, I am working with them to get their product out with adding an attached bag to provide items that will support the person who will be wearing and using the coat/bag. The cost for one delivery is $180.00 which includes the coat/sleeping bag/backpack, wash cloth and soap, tooth brush and tooth paste, brush, deodorant, glove, hat, hand warmers, socks, first aid kit, hand sanitizer and wipes, cooling towel and items to cool, food bars, water, and other items that are easy to eat, flash light, and pouch to keep personal items safe. I am also, working with these organizations to develop a child delivery bag and pet delivery bag! Those are in the works!
I am reaching out to you and asking for your help to support someone in need with one of the basic deliveries. By any donation you are helping to plant seeds and make a harvest for those in need. These deliveries might change with items, but through my research and speaking with those who are homeless, this is the majority of what will help with their basic survival. The donations that I receive for this special backpack will also aid in supporting the organizations and churches involved in distributing them to their homeless communities. It truly does take a village and we need everyone to support our neighbors, especially at this time of the "unknown" in our Country!
