Donita's Medical Expenses

Donation protected

I have had the pleasure of having Donita as a best friend for the past 12 years after meeting in nursing school. She has changed my life in more ways than I can name as she did with most people she came into contact with. February 4th, the day after her 32nd birthday, her life ended too soon after a brave battle with breast cancer.

Donita was the most caring nurse for almost 10 years. Being a nurse was deeply embedded in who she was. She cared about her patients with the same passion she exhibited in the rest of her life. She had a passion for teaching and passing her skills and empathy on to the nurses around her. She earned her masters in nursing education, but she still stayed at the bedside part time. She often expressed to the people closest to her that the hardest thing about her cancer diagnosis was when she had to leave the bedside and leave her patients. That is the person she was, genuinely caring and selfless.

Donita's life ended much like she lived, with dignity and making sure that everyone she loved was taken care of. Donita was the most genuine, loyal, and loving person you could ever meet. She took care of everyone never accepting anything in return. She was fiercely independent, spontaneous, and adventurous. She never let a opportunity pass her by to live life to the fullest, she said "yes" to every opportunity that came her way. She was the hardest working most brilliant person in every room.

Her family is in the midst of grieving this enormous loss while paying for medical expenses incurred, and I'm sure she would love nothing more than to know that her family is taken care. This is why I ask that you would donate to help ease some of this stress while her family grieves the loss and try to cope with the space she left behind in all of our lives that is impossible to fill.
