<div>We zijn inmiddels drie maanden verder sinds Dennis de diagnose uitgezaaide alvleesklierkanker kreeg. Alleen al het halen van deze drie maanden is een enorm gevecht geweest.

<div>Door complicaties, ziekenhuisopnames, chemokuren, pijnbestrijding, voeding via TPV en alle onzekerheid daaromheen zijn de afgelopen periode ongelofelijk zwaar geweest. Zeker de weken in het Erasmus MC hebben veel gevraagd van Dennis, maar ook van Kelly en Finn. Naast de emotionele belasting waren de dagelijkse kosten voor Kelly in die periode erg hoog. Denk aan vervoer, eten, parkeren, praktische ondersteuning en alles wat nodig was om zo dicht mogelijk bij Dennis te kunnen zijn.

<div>Na de derde kuur lijkt er voorzichtig wat meer ruimte te ontstaan om verder vooruit te kijken. De hoop op genezing is er helaas niet meer, maar de hoop op levensverlenging en zo veel mogelijk goede tijd samen is er wel. De papieren voor een mogelijke trial zijn inmiddels binnen en worden vandaag verzonden. Dat geeft richting, maar brengt ook opnieuw praktische en financiële onzekerheid met zich mee. In de papieren staat dat slechts een deel door de verzekering wordt vergoed. Alles daaromheen kan dus alsnog voor extra druk zorgen.

<div>Tegelijkertijd zijn Dennis en Kelly ook bezig met iets wat niemand zou willen hoeven doen: het plannen van de uitvaart. Niet omdat de strijd is opgegeven, maar omdat zij rust willen creëren en dingen zoveel mogelijk zelf willen regelen.

<div>De steun via deze crowdfunding blijft daarom ontzettend belangrijk. Niet alleen voor medische en praktische kosten, maar ook om Kelly, Finn en Dennis lucht te geven in een periode waarin er al genoeg op hun schouders ligt.
