Here is a post from Jacob describing his experience:
When I was 10 years old, I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. From then on, my life was changed permanently. I missed a good amount of my childhood, being stuck in doctor's appointments and infusions, instead of hanging out with friends and enjoying life. Last year I went in what I thought was remission, and I was able to live and enjoy life, being on NO medications, besides vitamins and some others, for over a year. Two weeks ago I thought I had a stomach flu, but later turned out to be a severe Crohn's flare up. I currently say all of this in the hospital feeling pretty knocked down and a little depressed to say the least. However, though I know I will go through times like this throughout the rest of my life, I know God will use my disease for His good somehow. I used to pray how God would just take away my disease so I can be normal again, but now I truly pray that God will use my disease for His will and help others, in some way. I am so blessed even in the bad times with many many friends and family, and people that don't even personally know me, caring enough to pray for my healing. Without all of these experiences, I know I wouldn't be as close to God as I feel and know to cling to Him even more during these times. He proves time and time again, there's a plan and a reason for what I am going through. This is hard, but I couldn't imagine going through it without God and without the support of my friends and family. Thank you all so much for your prayers, they mean a lot.
P.S. Thank you so much, Mom (Michelle Daniel Milligan) and Dad (Shane Milligan), and my bro for being there and helping me through it all.
