Who picks the produce that lands on your plate or prepares the milk in your fridge?
Agricultural workers have numerous challenges to contend with at any given time, but COVID-19 has made their truly essential work an even greater struggle, and just now we're beginning to find out how the pandemic has impacted this segment of the population. Historically and especially during this time, agricultural workers wages are too low to meet their families basic needs. Therefore, the New Mexico Coalition of Agricultural Workers and Advocates (NM CAWA) - a group of organizations and agencies working with agricultural workers in New Mexico on access to healthcare, housing, utilities, legal representation, and basic necessities - is collecting funds for much-needed clothing. All proceeds from this fund will be used to buy clothing that will then be distributed to farm working families in New Mexico.
Our drive specifically requests donations of the following items if you are in Albuquerque and wish to drop off your donation to one of the many locations below:
* Headlamp flashlights
* Work gloves
* 0-15 children's clothing
* Handkerchiefs
* Long sleeve shirts (smaller sizes preferable)
* Knee pads
* Hats (all sizes)
* Pants (between 28-34 in waist; 28-32 in length)
* Shoes
* Sweaters
* Durable socks
* Work boots (smaller sizes)
