Give Emmanuel A Brighter Future
Emmanuel Ndam is a regular teenager with an irregular problem. Emmanuel’s parent realised that one of his legs was larger than the other from birth. This observation proved to be true as the larger leg kept increasing as time passed. Over the years, Emmanuel’s family spent almost every franc they had, in quest for answers as they went to all big hospitals around the country in search for treatment to no avail. The leg kept growing in size and presently weighs 48.6 KG
Recently, an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Mutsu Venantius, after conducting a scan on Emmanuel’s leg decided to send the results to India where it was diagnosed that he was suffering from Lymphedema. This rare disease can be treated through a surgery.
The surgery will involve the implantation of vessels on the leg that will enable the free circulation of blood on the swollen leg. For the surgery to be conducted, a sum of 12 million francs CFA was demanded. Though an NGO has opted to pay 50% of the cost, the family can’t raise the 50% balance and the money for the documentation and logistics which amounts to 8000,000 francs CFA (Eight Million francs)
