HELP US PROTECT OUR FRONT-LINE WORKERS

Donation protected
We are at a turning point in history.
Never before have our borders closed so rapidly with entire economies, schools and businesses shut down. Our ability to stand united during this time is critical.

Last week, a friend Melanie shared her fears about having to give birth alone to her firstborn child. Many hospitals are considering banning accompanying persons into labour and delivery in order to protect medical staff.

Our healthcare workers and first responders are putting their lives on the line so that we can stay healthy and safe. The scarcity of protective equipment is impacting their physical and mental well-being, while exposing their own families to a higher risk of infection.

There are many reasons why hospitals are struggling to source enough personal protective equipment (PPE). For one, hospitals are accustomed to submitting orders for medical equipment months in advance—if not years. Even more daunting, with current global demand for equipment at an all-time high, prices are surging as people scramble to get their hands on supplies.

The more effectively we mobilize resources today (masks, testing kits, vaccines), the more lives can save. Our medical staff needs our help and support.

United by a common cause, we are a group of young entrepreneurs with three different startups (KAJ Collective, Nimbus Tutoring and Piriko). We grasped the importance of taking action and decided to put our activities on hold to focus our efforts to help frontline workers. We contacted suppliers and a friend put us in touch with companies producing personal protective equipment.

We teamed up with a medical equipment supplier, Apeiron Med , who is helping us supply KN95, surgical masks, and protective gowns at cost. No profits will be made.

Every dollar you donate counts and will go directly to purchasing key items. Here are some estimates of how far your donations will go:

$15 – 5 x KN95 masks

$30 – 10 x KN95 masks

$60 – 100 x Surgical masks

$100 – 4 x Protective gowns

$300 – One PPE kit (for a doctor or nurse for 7 days)

Hospitals and Pharmacies we are already partnering with:
- Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Toronto
- Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM)
- St. Joseph's Health Centre Toronto
- Babinski & Kotb, Proxim Affiliated Pharmacy

In these dire times, it is important that we unite and support each other. While most of us stay home and practice social distancing, each and every one of us can help.

By donating funds to this campaign you will be contributing directly to protecting front-line workers.

Given the financial impact of the crisis, we understand that not everyone is able to donate. You can also participate in the cause by sharing this page on social media.

Thank you,

Abdoulaye, Ben, Leander, Sherif, Khaled and Baptiste

________

Why raise $100,000?
Currently, due to the high demand around the world, medical equipment factories are only prioritizing orders that meet their Minimum Order Requirements. For example, the minimum order quantity for surgical masks is 2,000 boxes, or $60,000. We are currently in a sellers' market where factories are imposing their requirements. This is why we are trying to raise the bar as high as possible in order to have factories prioritizing these orders for Canada.

FOR HOSPITALS, PHARMACIES AND INSTITUTIONS
Please fill-out the form below to be on the list of beneficiaries for equipment donations. We will use the PPE request form to match items purchased with places that have immediate requests:

A little more about us
We are a team of creatives based in Montreal working with KAJ Collective, a creative agency organizing events in Montreal, New York, and Tokyo. During this campaign, we are partnering with Montreality, the largest urban culture platform in Canada, and Evergreen. Needless to say that most of our projects for this year have been cancelled or postponed, but we are fortunate enough to still be able to bring our support to the people that need it the most.

Why your money will go a long way
Many suppliers have taken advantage of the situation by surging their prices of personal protective equipment (PPE), preventing hospitals and governments from purchasing necessary supplies. There are even cases of PPE theft in Canada !

Suppliers and retailers are currently selling KN95/N95 masks at $9 per unit (compared to $3) and surgical masks at $4 per unit (compared to $1.5).
