Volcan de Fuego (Fire) 25 miles southwest of Guatemala City erupted June 3, 2018 leaving many dead, homeless and missing. Death toll is unknown at this time due to bodies burried in the lava . The National Disaster Management Agency (CONRED) said a river of lava hit the village of El Rodeo, destroying houses and burning people inside.
Guatemala needs our help more than ever.
The funds raised through this campaign will be distributed directly to the victims of this tragedy.
This site is being ran by Herceny Del Cid (@herceny) and Heidy Rodriguez (@heidsrod). The funds will then be transfered to the Organizer/Volunteers in Antigua Guatemala, Amanda Budzynski and Paola Monterosso. We will update video and fotos here as well as on instagram, facebook and twitter @donatetoinspire.
Herceny Del Cid founded "Donate To Inspire" with her father (RIP) in 2011 to help children in the villages of Santa Rosa Guatemala. Herceny was born in Santa rosa de Lima Guatemala and immigrated to the US at the age of 5. As she does every year, this site was set up for that same purpose. Two hours after the Volcano erupted killing, injuring and displacing so many Heidy called Herceny and proposed using this platform for the victims in Guatemala. Now thanks to that conversation and your support we have raised more than $1,000. (www.donatetoinspire.com).
The victims will receive help through volunteers we trust who have helped us over the years. As of now what is needed most is medicine, milk for toddlers, and hygiene items. As time goes on the needs of the victims will change. Luckily we have volunteers there witnessing what is needed and asking the victims. We hope to extend our help through the entire process of the victims, from now until the government of Guatemala gives them land to build their homes again. We hope to gather a group of volunteers to fly to Guatemala and lend a hand as well. Herceny will personally go as she does every year for the cause.
