Christmas tithes at the Little House of Healing!
Wow, can you believe it? We’ve made it to six years this month! So many things have happened; so many miracles this year!!! At present, we’re gathering clothing and other items for our friends in Camarillo who lost everything during the Mountain Fire, as well as many services to the community: helping other businesses create fundraisers and joining with lots of friends to bring items, clothing, and food out into the community we so love and cherish.

My name is Valerie Kobabe, and six years ago, I heard the call to make a beautiful house for people who are transitioning through much liminal space after the devastating Borderline mass shooting, which killed 13 local family and friends, and the Woolsey Fires, which happened in the same week, tragically destroying property, displacing people and animals, and taking years to recover. We became a space with volunteers helping to create art classes, community prayer, meditation time, sacred sharing time—a place for people to come and just sit in (Grief). Lots of Kleenexes and lots of loving care over the years.

We changed our mission when the pandemic hit and became a place that we could Zoom out recovery and hope with 12-step classes, poetry groups, and places to meet to share books, time, art, and hope together. As the pandemic ended, we opened our doors to a fresh new season with art classes, book and Bible studies, and I was able to go to a greater depth with ACA work and many, many private sessions.

This year, with the Mountain Fire, we are organizing clothing, furniture, and things that people need, as well as taking calls and working with clients who have been in long-term post-traumatic stress and depression. This year, we pray to keep the doors open as Valerie just lost both of her parents and is transitioning her home. We are hoping to be able to keep the business open and continue to work in the community as Valerie faith walks through the greatest challenges of her life.

Thank you so much for reading and thank you to everyone who has supported us all these past six years! We appreciate it so much, and we are so blessed to call so many friends.
Thank you dearly!!
