I love books so much and couldn’t imagine my life without the different worlds you can enter through words on a page. Books are an integral part of a child’s education, and some kids don’t have access to books. Books allow kids to not only improve their literary skills but also let kids have an imagination and enjoy reading.
I am Prakriti Rai and a middle schooler in NJ. I am raising money for Swapaksh Learning Foundation. Swapaksh is a school in India that provides an education to underprivileged children. Swapaksh’s goal is to set up a future for kids that come from next to nothing. My goal is share my love for reading and help them build a library this summer.
Swapaksh also provides kids nutritious meals and a cake on their birthday. Imagine this, it’s your birthday and you don’t have any presents nor enough money for a cake. If you bring lunch from home for one day, and donate the money ($15) you can give a kid something to look forward to on their special day. If you bring in two lunches from home, ($30) you can pay for nutritious snacks for the entire school for a week. In addition to that, if you give up your coffee and muffin for one day, ($10) you can pay for the breakfast of a kid for an entire month.
$10 donation = breakfast of a kid for an entire month
$15 donation = a birthday cake on a kid's birthday for the entire school
$30 donation = nutritious snacks for the entire school for a week
I am asking everyone to please donate whatever you can! Please donate books, new or old, to this school to create a school library so these 85 students can experience the joy of reading.
