My name is Bobby. These are my boys — Poof and Gravy. They’re 12 years old. They’re all the family I have left in this world, and I will die before I ever surrender them to a shelter. Two years ago a painful, mysterious tunnel/wound opened up on my thigh that still bleeds and drains every single day. I’ve been to ERs, surgeons, specialists — nobody can fix it. The constant pain and bleeding made it impossible to keep working. I lost my job, my insurance, my car (sold it to pay rent), and eventually my home. Right now we are homeless in Easton, PA. We sleep wherever we can. I change my wound dressing in gas station bathrooms. I carry everything we own on my back so my boys have food and their meds. Winter is here and it’s getting brutally cold at night. I just landed a new job — my first real hope in years — but it’s not enough yet. I need a room (even a shared one) so we have a safe place to sleep and I can keep showing up to work. I need a reliable eBike to get there and to doctors. That’s it. That’s the whole dream right now: a door that locks, a warm bed, and keeping my cats with me. I’m not asking for a handout — I’m asking for a hand up.
