<div>Winnie is a 10 week old Sheltie. She was born with a congenital defect called a PDA (a patent ductus arteriosus) 

</div>

<div>PDA is when a blood vessel called the ductus arteriosus, which normally closes shortly after birth, remains open. This causes abnormal blood flow between the aorta and the pulmonary artery, potentially leading to heart failure if left untreated. 

</div>

<div>PDA has an extremely high success rate when surgically corrected. With surgery these dogs go on to live normal healthy lives!!! 

</div>

<div>This is where we need your help. Heart surgery is not cheap and requires a specialist to attempt it. Winnie will need to see the wonderful folks at Tufts in MA for her surgery. After surgery she will need to be kept very quiet and will have several follow ups during her recovery.

<div>Without this life saving surgery, Winnie would die of heart failure.
