Hello my name is Katie and I am raising money for this sweet cat, Simba. Let me tell you his story.
My mom found Simba wondering the street late evening on 11/24, he was in the street walking towards her moving vehicle when she saw him. She picked him up and searched the neighborhood a bit to see if anyone knew the cat or his owners, but had no luck. She took him home so he was not out on the streets and in the cold. He seemed disoriented, his fur was matted and smelled like pee. That night I searched Facebook to see if anyone was missing a cat. The next morning someone reached out claiming to be the sister of Simba’s owner. We tried to set up a time for someone to pick him up, but then the person blocked me. It was clear that the owner no longer wanted Simba and they abandoned him. It is unclear for sure how long he had been out on his own.
That night we had a family friend that is a vet tech take a look at him and see if he had a microchip. He did have a microchip and we were able to find out that his name is Simba and he is 10 1/2 years old.
Our friend/vet tech’s recommendations
“I would recommend he get bloodwork done to test for FIV/feline leukemia/heart worm but also get baseline internal organ function to asses his kidneys and liver. As cats age they become more prone to renal disease, hyperthyroidism, and diabetes.
I would also recommend he get a fecal test to rule out intestinal worms, especially with fleas they can get tapeworms. Rabies vaccine would be top priority if nothing else can be done right away.”

We gave him a bath to clean him up due to the smell and we found a flee. Through it all he was calm and cuddly. He wasn’t even upset when we had to give him a bath! We gave him a box with a blanket to curl up in and gave him wet and dry food. Sadly Simba was not doing well and he wasn’t eating on his own. We’ve had to resort to forced feeding him watered down wet food. We are unsure how long he will last, but he keeps rallying and want to play and cuddle.

We would like to take Simba into a vet to get the care he needs, but unfortunately, we do not have the funds to provide for what this poor, sweet cat needs and deserves. After being abandoned, we want to make sure he feels the love he deserves. The money we raise will go to his vet, bills and medications. Due to the uncertainty of what his diagnosis will be or how long he will make it, any remaining funds will be donated to Last Hope Inc, in Farmington, Mn a non profit animal rescue.

If you are touched by Simba’s story and would like to help, we’d greatly appreciate your donation.
