Hi everyone. My name is Stella. I’m originally from the Philippines and currently living in Florida.

I’m asking for help on behalf of my younger brother, Richard Garcia, who is currently admitted to San Pedro Davao Hospital due to a kidney infection.

He first went to a public hospital but was asked to go back when a room became available. After weeks of waiting, he decided to go to San Pedro. He was admitted on August 28, 2025. After the initial payment, they were able to schedule his surgery, which was done on September 1, 2025.

The surgeon, Dr. Pasia, did an amazing job removing my brother’s kidney stones, and we’re so very thankful to him. Dr. Pasia preferred to be paid in full ($2100), which I understand because he already did his part.

My brother couldn’t afford to pay the full amount within 24 hours after the surgery. He just got a new job, and his insurance doesn’t start until October 2025.

We asked if we could do installments and pay it within a month rather than paying the full bill at once, but he didn’t agree to it. He also stated the doctor’s fee would become higher if we got financial assistance from social services, and it may take 6-9 months for them to get paid.

Since a payment arrangement is not possible, our only option now is to ask for assistance from different government agencies. So far, we have collected $260 from three government agencies.

Dr. Pasia’s initial offer was $2100 (only if paid in full). Since we decided to ask for financial assistance from the government, the doctor’s fee went up to $4100. This is on top of the hospital bill, which is $3624 and increases each day.

The discharge date was supposed to be on September 3, 2025, but my brother is still in the hospital. The person from the Billing Dept confirmed my brother will not be discharged unless the bill is fully paid.

We are humbly asking for your donations to help cover my brother’s medical expenses. It’s not possible for me to pay all his hospital bills as my husband and I just addressed some major house issues.

My brother feels better now, and staying in the hospital is depressing and will just make him feel weak. He needs to go home to care for his rescued dogs and cats.
