Hey guys, I'm making this GoFundMe kind of private for our family's new horse, Pumpkin. She was recently adopted from a rescue, and her story is she is an ex-Amish cart pony. She suffered neglect and abuse to the point she lost vision in her right eye from lack of care and infection. When she was rescued from being sent to slaughter with her buddy, her buddy sadly did not make it before succumbing to severe head and facial fractures from abuse. Although Pumpkin pulled through, she is still suffering quite a bit. Even though blind in that eye, it is still there and angry and weepy, and I assume she is very uncomfortable. I believe it will be best to have the vet remove it and sew it closed so that she can be comfortable and free from further infection and pain.
I've been hit hard with veterinary funds for my other horse, Odin, and although I could afford in time to get her eye removed, it means she would have to suffer longer. I made this GoFundMe to ask for help to get her properly cared for as soon as possible. I am even willing to pay anyone back over time and make payments for whoever is willing to help get her vet care as soon as possible. She has suffered for so long at the hands of others, and she is such a sweet, deserving animal. I want her to be as comfortable as possible living out the rest of her days with us.
We already had our trimmer out, who pointed out her feet were so bad it was like walking on sharp points. After she was trimmed, she happily sprinted and rolled on the ground with relief. Any amount helps to help get our Pumpkin pain-free. Thank you. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to help in any other ways. I appreciate and love you guys for taking the time to read this.
Estimate for eye removal from the vet I was given was anywhere from 1,500 to 1,800 given there is no complications.
Estimate for the eye exam and health exam to be cleared to have surgery is 300.00. Just to be upfront and transparent about the costs.
