Hello, this is a fundraiser to help pay the sudden medical bills of Ronnie’s 5 year old cat Loki.
Early Monday afternoon Ronnie noticed that Loki was acting lethargic, wasn't eating and that he hadn’t peed that morning. While Loki was sunbathing he started growing and was clearly in a lot of pain so they made the decision to take him to the emergency vet immediately.
By that evening they had come to the conclusion he had a blocked urethra which would be fatal within 72 if left untreated. The total cost was going to be $6-8,000 for treatment but that was so far out of reach that instead of putting him down they would do the procedure, claiming that a charity would pay 80% of the reduced bill of $4,000 if Ronnie could come up with the other 20% immediately.
A close friend was able to make the initial $800 payment so that the life saving procedure could be done. Upon arriving to pick up Loki today he was informed that the fund had been already and was no longer available to him. Luckily the procedure had already been done but he was informed that he would be responsible for the remainder of the $4,000 bill.
Loki has to be seen at his normal vet within 48 hours of returning home to make sure his potassium levels are stable and that his catheter came out properly and that his bladder is functioning as it should be.
From what we’ve been told he will need to be on prescription food for the rest if his life and the only guarantee to it not happening again is a surgery to drill out his urethra. Needless to say little man still has quite the road ahead but he’s a tough little guy.
I’m setting this up to hopefully get these bills paid so Ronnie can continue to use what little cash he has to bring Loki to his upcoming appointments. Thank you to everyone for reading all this, anything we can do to help out Ronnie and Loki is appreciated beyond words.
