Hi everyone, my name is Libs. I’m a 24-year-old disabled individual trying to raise money for service dog training. With all my chronic health issues, I’m unable to currently work, drive, or manage college. I live off SSI and food stamps. While I’m grateful for the blessing of being given that support, it’s unfortunately hard to get by. I make under $1000 a month with SSI, under $12,000 a year, and only get a couple hundred in food stamps monthly. After I pay rent, I’m not left with much, especially since I also have a lot of copays for medication and doctor appointments. With the financial stress and lack of independence, I’m left feeling lonely and burdensome quite often.
I want to be able to do more and I feel certain that with the benefits of a service dog, I won’t only have constant companionship but also some peace of mind in safety and being able to branch out more with newly gained independence. It would help so much with safety concerns and help open more doors with jobs and education so I’m not constantly scraping by. I’m a compassionate and empathetic person to others, so I’m trying to share some of that with myself for once by making this fundraiser.
The money I’m raising is to help with finding a good canine companion candidate, the beginning obedience training, and then lastly the service dog training. I’m aware it’s a lot of money, and unfortunately, the program I’m looking at is one of the most affordable ones I’ve found, even though it’s still thousands of dollars, and the dogs recommended to me by the training program are $1500 at the lowest. I’m putting forth as much money as I personally can, but it’s not nearly enough. Anything helps, even if you can’t donate yourself, I’d be grateful if you shared this with people you know. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you continue or start to have a life filled with love and life. Wish me luck on this journey, and thank you once again for taking the time to hear me out. It means a lot.
Here is to Hope,
Libs xx
